Nobody's Putting Up A Fight Friday
Well, the huge additions to the Rhapsody catalog just keep rolling in. Paul McCartney. Elvis Costello. David Soul. Men Without Hats. Pinch me.
And now: AC/DC.
Oh wait, no, it's Wing Sings AC/DC. Even better.
With her deft combination of the best elements of midi cheese and karaoke compassion, the Wing Han Tsang catalog certainly fills a gap in the Rhapsody. She's inspired [wikipedia.org] New Zealand nursing home residents, an episode of South Park, and an upcoming stateside show at the Cafe Du Nord for you lucky kids in the Bay Area.
Yes, now it's Friday.

It might be worth going to see Wing at DuNord just to answer the age old question, "How long can hipsters ironically pretend to like something before they're confronted with their own awful lives?"
Sure, they'll be totally on board for the first couple of AC/DC covers, but around the 30 minute mark they'll slowly realize that they're doing nothing more than watching an old chinese woman sing 'Don't Cry for me Argentina'. The trust fund smiles will slowly drop from their faces as they wonder to themselves, "Am I the coolest person alive, or just a racist that thinks ching-chong chinamen are funny?".
Except me of course. I'll be in the back of the room ironically enjoying the false irony (double irony!) that has nothing to do with the performer, thereby making me the most awesome person on the planet.

Ah, you college kids and your complex cultural capoeira moves.
It is almost suspicious that there's no mention of the puppetmaster who programs the music and is picking the freak repertoire. There's something going on here she's not telling us...
